The team at Cycle of Good are committed to spreading the word about the importance of trading fairly so we are delighted to become members of the BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK!
BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK is a network of independent shops and suppliers dedicated to promoting Fair Trade retail in the UK. BAFTS provides a structure of accountability to its members who adhere to the 10 Principles of Fair Trade as set out by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO).
Our membership to BAFTS marks an important milestone in our journey towards creating a fairer and more sustainable society. It also enables us to engage with the strong community of independent shops and suppliers who share our philosophy and drive.
BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK
Every Cycle of Good product has been made with love by trained artisans in Malawi using recycled materials saved from UK landfill. We currently employ 20 tailors full time along with 5 support roles. Their salaries mean that they can support their own families, afford a good diet, pay school fees and look forward to a secure future. Self supporting income generation is vital in Malawi which is one of the poorest countries in the world with fragile harvests, no welfare state and very little access to international markets.
Being part of the BAFTS network doesn’t change the way we work or what we can achieve but it does help us to shout about the way we do things.
When you’re out and about doing your shopping, or hunting for Eco-gifts for your friends and family, please please do look out for the BAFTS sign of endorsement, we’re happy to testify that it really does mean that the organisation sporting a BAFTS logo has been scrutinised and judged to be fair, ethical and good![
